World Industries

In 1987, two huge names in skateboarding decided to do something few skateboarders had done before and start their own skateboard company, World Industries. Those names were, of course, Steve Rocco and Rodney Mullen. Rocco had made a name for himself in the freestyle skateboarding world, and so had Mullen. The only difference is that Mullen quickly went on to become the father of street skating as we know it! With these two together creating World Industries, it resulted in the brand becoming one of the most influential skate companies in the late ’80s and ’90s. Rocco was the absolute king of creating waves within the industry; like him or not, you knew who World Industries was and what it was all about, and that was being on the very edge of what you could get away with, sometimes arguably going beyond what was acceptable. This potentially risky, combative marketing was something the kids at the time loved, quickly pushing World to the forefront of what was cool in skateboarding. In 1996, World Industries created three characters that would elevate them above most other brands again, these lil dudes were called Flameboy, Wet Willy and Devilman. These three cartoon characters gave the brand a whole new life, resulting in generations of kids being equally as hyped on the brand as kids in the early ’90s were. World Industries is one of the most important brands in skateboard history, and we couldn’t be prouder to stock it here!
