Chocolate skateboards was started in 1994 by professional skateboarders Rick Howard and Mike Carroll as a sister company to Girl Skateboards, which was founded a year earlier with long time friends Spike Jonze and Megan Baltimore. Chocolate skateboards’ art direction was formulated by artist Evan Hecox who gave a really unique and iconic look and feel to the brand, which coupled with an incredible team of skateboarders meant it was an instant hit. Over the years they defined their look and feel through classic skateboard graphics and also became known for boards released as a collection, or series, that people would buy as a set to hang on their wall rather than skate! To this day Chocolate skateboards is an industry-leading manufacturer of skateboard decks, wheels, bearings, clothing and accessories and are still based in Torrance CA.
