Oakley
Oakley began with humble beginnings: just a young man named James ’Jim’ Jannard and his dog, Oakley Anne. After leaving his job as a motorcycle parts distributor in 1975, James decided to use the knowledge he had acquired over the years to take the big step of creating his own brand – Oakley. On a shoestring budget, Oakley introduced a game-changing motocross handlebar grip, then went on to do the same again with motocross goggles. Both were so popular that world-class riders were using their products before Oakley could even afford endorsement deals. By 1984, with a larger budget and serious brand recognition, the first sunglasses prototype was created, and by 1985, the ever-popular Oakley Frogskins were spawned. From there on out, Oakley has only grown, expanding into most action sport scenes and becoming one of the most well-recognised eyewear brands in the world.
