Osiris Shoes has long been a dominant force in the skateboarding world, gaining recognition not only for their high-performance footwear but also for their revolutionary skate videos that have left a lasting impact on skate culture. From their early releases to the current day, Osiris has been at the forefront of the skateboarding community, creating both innovative products and memorable skate media.
Osiris Skate Videos
One of Osiris’s most influential early releases was The Storm (1999), which introduced the world to some of the best skaters of the time, this included Jerry Hsu, Chris Dobstaff, and Peter Smolik. Known for its high-energy skateboarding, creative tricks, and groundbreaking footage, The Storm set the tone for Osiris’s subsequent releases. The video became an iconic part of skate history, helping establish the brand’s reputation for pushing boundaries and contributing to the evolution of street skateboarding.
Following The Storm, Osiris released Subject to Change (2003), showcasing a new generation of skaters like Ali Boulala, Jerry Hsu, and Dylan Rieder. This video highlighted the evolving skateboarding styles of the time and cemented Osiris as a key player in skate culture. The release of Feed the Need (2007) expanded the brand’s reach, featuring a diverse lineup of skaters including Caswell Berry, Clint Peterson, PLG and Corey Duffel, offering a range of skate styles, from street to vert, and capturing Osiris’s global influence.
In 2009, Osiris dropped The Capital Tour, a video that followed skaters like James Brockman, John Rattray, and Marius Syvanen as they travelled across cities, capturing their skate sessions and adventures. The 2012 release, Never Gets Old, continued Osiris's legacy with parts from top skaters like Caswell Berry, Corey Duffel, and JT Aultz, proving that the brand’s influence on skate culture remained as strong as ever.
Iconic skate shoe design
When it comes to Osiris skate shoes, two models stand out above the rest: the D3 and the NYC 83.
The Osiris D3, released in 1999, remains one of the most iconic skate shoes in history. Known for its bold, chunky design, the D3 featured a heavily padded tongue and collar, reinforced side panels, and a unique lacing system. Designed by Brian Reid and Dave Mayhew, the D3 became a cultural phenomenon, embraced by skaters, musicians such as Fred Durst and Billie Eilish, and fashion enthusiasts alike. Its innovative design and popularity in skate culture continue to make the D3 a timeless classic.
Another standout model is the Osiris NYC 83, which combines top-tier performance with style. Featuring a high-top design for ankle support and vibrant colourways, the NYC 83 is built for comfort and durability. The shoe’s robust construction and grippy gum rubber outsole ensure superior performance, making it the go-to choice for serious skateboarders.
Performance and Durability
Osiris skate shoes are engineered to withstand the intense demands of skateboarding, offering superior comfort and support during even the most challenging sessions. Key features include:
- Cushioning: Osiris uses polyurethane foam in its cushioning systems, providing a responsive feel that enhances both comfort and performance.
- Performance Outsoles: The shoes feature specialised rubber outsoles with herringbone tread patterns, delivering superior grip and maximum traction on a skateboard.
- Padding: Ample padding in the tongue and collar offers an extra layer of protection and comfort, ensuring a snug, supportive fit.
These design elements make Osiris skate shoes some of the best options for skaters seeking durability, performance, and comfort on and off the board.
Osiris Shoes: A Cultural Icon
Beyond performance, Osiris shoes have played a significant role in shaping skate culture and influencing mainstream fashion. With models like the D3 OG and D3 2001, the brand has become a symbol of late 1990s and early 2000s skate aesthetics. The D3 was embraced by musicians, celebrities, and fashion designers, solidifying Osiris's role in shaping the intersection of skateboarding and popular culture. With the recent resurgence of the early 2000s look, music artists such as Billie Eilish and A$AP Rocky are often seen donning the D3 on stage today.
As skateboarding culture has evolved, so too has Osiris, continuing to innovate with new designs and fresh offerings. Today, the resurgence of 90s and early 00s skate aesthetic has brought Osiris shoes back into the spotlight, reinforcing the brand’s place as a cultural icon. With fresh styles and a commitment to high-quality, performance-driven footwear, Osiris remains relevant to both skateboarders and fashion-forward individuals alike.
Osiris Shoes has revolutionized both skateboarding footwear and skate culture over the years. Today, the brand continues to push the boundaries of design and performance, ensuring that Osiris skate shoes remain a top choice for skaters worldwide.
