Quiksilver
Quiksilver began in 1969 with two surfers, Alan Green and John Law, at the helm. Hailing from Torquay, Australia, Quiksilver was based in one of the most surf-obsessed places on earth. Alan and John were avid surfers who shared experience within the surfing industry; the pair knew they could design an innovative product that would genuinely push the sport to new levels. That product was, of course, the boardshort, designed to remove all the annoyances of the regular swim shorts of the time. The original Quiksilver boardshorts had a Velcro fly, reinforced metal snaps, bespoke surfing fits designed to free up movement and material strengthening throughout the construction. As you can imagine, these were a great success. With no desire to step away from being pioneers and coming off the back of their success in the surfing world, Quiksilver spread itself into skateboarding and snowboarding, leaving a wake of success in the process.
