Screaming Hand

The Screaming Hand is an iconic graphic created for Santa Cruz Skateboards in 1985 by graphics artist Jim Phillips. Since its inception, the graphic has become an icon within the Californian skateboard culture and has featured on everything from t-shirts to skateboards over the last 30 years. Jim Phillips and the graphics he pioneered are considered legendary in the skateboarding community across the world. Phillips began publishing his artwork in local surf magazines in the 1960s then, throughout the 70s and 80s we worked as the senior art director for Santa Cruz Skateboards where he created so many of the familiar images and skateboard graphics that are so revered today.
